Department of Nuclear Medicine, Zhujiang Hospital, Southern Medical University
To enhance radiation safety in its Department of Nuclear Medicine, Zhujiang Hospital of Southern Medical University commissioned Shandong Qite Radiation Protection Engineering Co., Ltd. to carry out a specialized radiation shielding project. Given the high-radiation-risk characteristics of nuclear medicine, a customized protection plan was developed by the company.
During the construction process, 3 mm lead-equivalent shielding panels were installed throughout the entire area to ensure seamless protection. The facility was also equipped with electric lead-lined protective doors and radiation-shielding lead glass, with critical zones receiving additional sealing reinforcement. An intelligent monitoring system was deployed to provide real-time radiation dose monitoring. The project strictly adhered to national standards, and measures such as off-peak construction schedules and temporary isolation were implemented to ensure normal hospital operations during the construction period.
Upon completion, third-party testing confirmed that the radiation dose rate around the department was below 0.2 μSv/h, well below national safety thresholds. The hospital administration highly praised the construction quality and efficiency, noting that the project significantly improved the department’s safety and operational efficiency. With this project, Shandong Qite Radiation Protection Engineering Co., Ltd. has demonstrated its professional capabilities and established a benchmark for excellence in medical radiation shielding engineering.
