The Second Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical University commissioned Shandong Qite Radiation Protection Engineering Co., Ltd. to carry out a specialized lead shielding project for its Department of Nuclear Medicine. In response to the high-radiation-risk nature of the department, the company developed a tailored protection solution.
The construction involved the use of 3 mm lead-equivalent shielding panels, fully covering all six surfaces of the imaging room, including walls, ceiling, and floor. Electric lead-lined doors and radiation-shielding lead glass were installed with precision. Additional protection was reinforced in critical areas, such as radioactive waste storage zones, to ensure comprehensive safety.
Throughout the project, all work strictly adhered to national radiation safety standards. The construction was carried out in phases and during off-peak hours, with the setup of temporary shielding corridors to minimize disruptions to the hospital’s regular clinical operations. An intelligent radiation monitoring system was employed to provide real-time dose tracking, ensuring maximum safety during the entire process.
Upon completion, third-party inspection reports confirmed that radiation dose rates around the department were well below the national regulatory limits, with a 100% compliance rate on shielding effectiveness.
During the project handover, the hospital administration gave high praise for the scientific approach and efficient execution of the construction plan, noting that the project not only safeguarded the health and safety of both staff and patients but also enhanced the operational efficiency of the department.
